As anyone who has followed my past post for long probably knows I am a member of my counties "Republican Central Committee".
I am also a "precinct captain" and an NRA Election Volunteer Coordinator.
Being a "Central Committee" member is something anyone who is moderately interested in politics, and if you are reading this forum you are, can do.
It does not matter what party you belong to, they all have one thing in common, a "central committee" core group of "grass rootes" people who make most of the policy decisions.
(I am trying to keep this non-partisan as best I can, so I will try not to interject my personal belief's on the parties true structures, you already know which one I joined).
The central committee (or whatever other parties call theirs) members are the ones who;
1. Caucus to decide what issues the party as a whole will work to promote to the public.
2. Write the platforms and resolutions.
3. Choose which party candidates to help get elected.
4. Raise funds to elect their chosen candidates.
The above is not an exhaustive list, but covers the basics.
Joining is pretty easy in most area's, show up for a few monthly meetings (which are free, and open to the public), commit to show up for more, and take part in a couple of fund raisers and dinners each year.
You will only be able to join the same party you registered with.
When election's roll around you will be expected to help with some campaigning.
What do you get out of it, besides a chance to speak your mind?
Access!
You get access to the "movers and shakers" of the party.
You get invited to attend meetings with your reps that are not open to the general public.
You get to know the local party hierarchy, county and state politicians, mayor, major donors, etc.
The more people in your party you know, and who know YOU, the more influence you can exert to support our RKBA, including NFA.
Prior to the election of the Klinton regime, the "D" party was not nearly so notorious for seeking endless "Gun Control".
If more "D" sportsmen and NFA enthusiast had spoken up clearly in opposition, from "the inside", the damn AW & hi-cap bans might never have happened!
I will be attending my local county parties spring fund raiser next month, our annual "Lincoln Day Dinner".
Congressman Jim Gibbons will be the featured speaker, I hope to mention our group's formation and support of his VHFA bill when he makes the rounds of the tables.
